Who would you like to work with ... a medical imaging firm, a large diagnostic conglomerate or a major healthcare provider? With whom would you wish to have an alliance?

 

In the U.S., the distribution channels are mature. Brand image, prices, costs and product perceptions are all defined and structured. In any mature structure you start with an established medical device distribution company.

 

Before you consider building a U.S. distribution network you should discover the possibilities of building an alliance with an interested company in the U.S. The national population and area size may cause a partnership/alliance to appear very attractive to you.

 

For almost no investment, you could be compensated for some of your development costs, you could be ready to sell in a matter of months in all territories with skilled people familiar with the target market.

 

You should identify the top 20 major manufacturers or medical conglomerate in the U.S. From that group select 5-6 interested companies. These companies will be required to present a marketing proposal. Evaluate these marketing proposals and eliminate any flawed proposals, which may eliminate two of three companies leaving three remaining companies. From these remaining companies concentrate your efforts. You want to find a candidate manufacturers on an anonymous basis who:

 

·        Has a national U.S. distribution system of existing field salesmen,

·        Do NOT have the latest technology,

·        Understand their market share will erode unless they have a new product to offer,

·        Who know the cost to develop a new device?

 

You should approach this discovery on an anonymous basis to ensure repeated entrees. You can discover a potential partner's interest without disclosing your identity. This allows you to press a position and achieve a preferential agreement or merely walk away from negotiations {with an ability to both learn boundaries and re-approach a prospect after barriers are set aside}. If you describe the situation and boundaries in a written statement - we will price a program and define our exit point.
